Lansing, Michigan, November 11, 2001: At 10:00 a.m. Sunday;
Numerous veterans and citizen groups supporting military members will hold a press conference at:
Bioport, Corp.,3500 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Lansing, Michigan.
The "Rolling Resistance" rally itself will occur from noon to 3 p.m. on the steps of the Lansing State Capitol right after the 11:00 a. m. dedication of the Michigan POW/MIA Memorial.
In observance of Veterans Day, rally organizers will demand that:
1) All existing quarantined stocks of adulterated vaccine be destroyed (petition available for signature)
2) No new anthrax vaccine be released until a blue-ribbon panel of independent scientists determine:
a) Whether Bioports vaccine works adequately against airborne anthrax.
b) That the vaccine has attained the low reaction rates advertised on the product label.
The rally groups contend that such action is necessary because the Food and Drug Administration has completely failed in its obligation to protect U. S. citizens in uniform and now possibly even civilians.
Speakers at the press conference portion of the Rolling Resistance rally will include:
- Alan C. Milstein, nationally-recognized product liability attorney representing the family of a deceased anthrax vaccine victim and another military member now suffering from severe digestive tract paralysis.
- Lingg Brewer, candidate for the Michigan Senate who led the investigation into corruption surrounding the vaccine plant sale to Bioport while he served as a state representative.
- Robin Hawes, Rolling Resistance director who has major health complications from the anthrax vaccine and is a Michigan citizen who served with distinction in her state Air National Guard unit. Mrs. Hawes was discharged for illness relating to the Anthrax Vaccine.
- Redmond Handy, a former Colonel designated the nations top individual Air Force reservist by the Reserve Officers Association who retired early over the vaccine policy and continues active opposition.
- Steve Johnson, Executive Director of National Gulf War Resource Center, a decorated 20 year Army veteran who will describe how the FDA allowed vaccine experimentation on troops in the Gulf War.
